I’m going to be Livestreaming while I colour my Animystics piece, come bye and check it out!

I finally put together a FAQ post! If you had a question it should be here and if you have a question please read it through to see if I’ve already answered it before sending an ask (I don’t mind getting asks but I’m not very good at answering them in a timely manner). I’m going to try and keep this relatively up to date as I get more but for now I hope this manages to answer some of your questions!

I found this in my files and realized I forgot to post it! A personal sketch commission of Nausicaa that I finished awhile back. I don’t take personal commissions often but Nausicaa is one of my favourite movies and I’d recently finished reading the comic so I couldn’t help myself. Maybe one day I’ll colour it but for now I’ll leave it as is.

fezzine:

Even though I saw her livestream (you can check it out here) the sketches for these, I was still completely floored when Ashley Mackenzie sent these pieces. Look at them! Oh and in the zine, these are printed back to back so that it feels like you’re entering the door - they’re beautiful and functional!

Also many congratulations to Ashley for being our third contributor in this year’s Spectrum Annual! So proud of you, girl!

My Fezzine pieces are out! I was so excited to be a part of this project as it gave me an excuse to finally finish one of my favourite games and make something about it with lots of other cool folk. Thanks to Kevin for organizing and putting all this together!

This poster was just released so I can finally talk about it! As far as I know this is the first time OCAD has chosen to use illustration for the GradEx poster instead of straight graphic design (when they contacted me I actually thought they’d mistaken me for a graphic designer) so I was really excited to work on this.

The idea was about breaking traditions and moving past cliches to find new ways of thinking. More than anything I found OCADU to be a school of ideas. We were always encouraged to move past easy solutions to get to the heart of an idea to come up with something new. No self-respecting illustration student would settle for using a lightbulb until all other metaphors had been exhausted…so of course I couldn’t help but use it in this piece.

Thanks to everyone on the GradEx committee who worked with me on this! And if you’re in the GTA May 1st - 4th make sure you check out the exhibition!

Here’s my most recent piece in Scientific American for the article "The Hidden Dangers of Going Under" about possible lingering side-effects of anaesthesia. This one went through a few different iterations before we settled on the red one but I thought I’d post a few of the others to show some of the variations. Thanks to AD Jason Arias!

Here’s a little painting of a Golden-rumped Elephant Shrew that I did for “Revolver”, a show at Hellion Gallery curated by the fine folks at Antler Gallery. The show opens tonight so if you’re in the Portland area you should definitely check it out! If you’re interested in purchasing the original contact antlerpdx@gmail.com.

I’m trying to choose a mythical creature to do for a project, kind of in the style of the old Natural History drawings. Since I’m having a hard time deciding, does anyone have any suggestions or anything in particular you might be interested seeing me tackle?

Here’s an illustration I did for Alberta Oil. Thanks so much to AD Colton Ponto for letting me draw snakes instead of pipelines!

I recently found out that I’m going to be the January artist for Papirmass, an affordable monthly art subscription that sends out a print from a different artist every month. I can’t say which piece of mine it will be yet but I’m very excited to see what they do with it. If you’re interested you can go HERE for more info.

I did a piece for Scientific American’s December issue! The article was about illegal wildlife trafficking, the immense profits made on the black market and the need to change policies to protect these endangered species and prevent the misuse of those profits. You can read the full article HERE. Thanks so much to AD Michael Mrak!

I did an illustration for last Sunday’s New York Times Book Review! The article was about two books investigating the history between women and alcohol, you can read it online HERE. Thanks so much to AD Nicholas Blechman.

INPRNT is offering $10 international shipping until November 10th! If you’re outside of the US this is a great time to buy prints (their international shipping is usually $40 at least). I updated my shop with new print sizes just for the occasion, check them out HERE!
